How did Kraken trade

You can trade on 130 different trading pairs on Kraken that cover 32 cryptocurrencies and 6 Fiat currencies. There are different trading options available for basic and advanced users and the platform makes it easy to switch between them both.

You can place over 5 different types of orders on Kraken, namely:

  • Market & Limit orders
  • Stop-loss orders
  • Take Profit Orders
  • Settle Position Orders
  • Combined Order Types

Additionally, for more advanced traders, there are other order options to provide more flexibility with trading that include:

  • Conditional Close orders
  • Order Start/Expiration Time
  • P/L/Fee Currency Preference
  • Post Limit orders

For fees, Kraken offers a novel volume-based fee schedule that dictates your maker and taker fees depending on how much you trade. The more you trade over a 30-day period, the lower your fees will be.

Maker fees start at 0.16% and Taker fees at 0.26% if your trading volume is between $0 and $50,000. As you increase your volume through the stages, your maker/taker fees continue to drop by 0.02%. So if you trade between $250,000 and $500,000 per 30-days your maker fees are 0.10% and taker fees are 0.20%.
